Joanna A. Davis, MD Medical Director, Pediatric Program
Dr. Davis received her BA in biology from Barnard College of Columbia University. She attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, graduating in 1979 and did her Internship and first year of residency in pediatrics at Montefiore Hospital Medical Center in the Bronx. After completing her PL-3 year at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Dr. Davis did her fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at Jackson Memorial Hospital, and joined the faculty of the University of Miami in 1984. She became the medical director of the Pediatric Hemophilia Treatment Center in 1987.

Thomas Harrington, MD Medical Director, Adult Program
Thomas Harrington, MD, was graduated from Boston College and the University of Miami Medical School. After residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, he worked in the JMH emergency room and then Camillus Health Concern. He then completed two years of a hematology fellowship at JMH followed by a one-year fellowship in oncology at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Harrington became director of the adult sickle cell clinic at JMH in 1995 and later served as hematologist for the UM/JMH adult hemophilia program. He continues in both roles today, as well as attending in the JMH hematology/oncology clinic and seeing patients at the University's Sylvester Cancer Center.

Maria Santaella, RN, MSN Nurse Coordinator Pediatric & Adult Programs
Maria Santaella, RN, MSN, has been the pediatric bleeding disorders nurse coordinator at The University of Miami's Hemophilia Treatment Center since 2003 and the adult nurse coordinator since 2007. Prior to taking this post, Ms. Santaella worked in pediatric HIV/AIDs nursing at Jackson Memorial Medical Center in outpatient and inpatient capacities. In addition to her role as nurse coordinator for the UM Bleeding Disorders Program, Ms. Santaella has co-developed the nationally recognized workshop Infusion 101. In addition, she co-developed an emergency room educational series which focuses on educating medical staff to recognize the signs, symptoms and treatment of hemophilia.

Patrice Bravo, LCSW Clinical Social Worker/Outreach Coordinator
Since October of 2003, Patrice Bravo, LCSW, has been the clinical social worker for the Hemophilia Treatment Center, assisting patients and families afflicted with chronic illness. Ms. Bravo specializes in outreach program development, program marketing and fundraising within the pediatric and adult hospital environment. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from Florida International University. During her internship, she worked extensively with Fellowship House providing therapy and intervention to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, as well as at Jackson Memorial Medical Transplant Center with the pediatric transplant teams.
